Robert M. Selden, III, DDS, MS, PA
FOUNDER & LEAD ORTHODONTIST
Patients across Charlotte and Huntersville know him simply as "Dr. Rob." He founded Selden Orthodontics in 2001, driven by a genuine passion for creating healthy, confident smiles and building lasting relationships with the community he calls home. A born and raised North Carolinian, Dr. Rob completed his undergraduate degree, dental degree, and orthodontic residency at UNC-Chapel Hill, earning his DDS with distinction. He has served as adjunct clinical faculty at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry since 2006, helping train the next generation of dentists, and has been recognized with the Part-Time Faculty Teaching Award in 2017, 2019, and 2023.

Education & Experience
Over more than two decades, Dr. Rob has grown Selden Orthodontics from a single Huntersville location into two thriving practices serving Charlotte, Huntersville, and the surrounding communities, offering braces, clear aligners, and comprehensive orthodontic care for patients of all ages. His leadership in the dental community runs deep: he is a past president of the North Carolina Association of Orthodontists, the Old North State Dental Society, and the NC Dental Foundation, and currently serves as President of the Continental Orthodontic Study Club. He has been honored with the Old North State Dental Society Outstanding Member Award, the Harvey E. Beech Outstanding Young Alumni Award, and the Oren Oliver Distinguished Service Award from the Southern Society of Orthodontists.
For Dr. Rob, dentistry is a family legacy. His father practiced general dentistry for 50 years, his brother is a respected Charlotte cosmetic dentist, and his daughters are following in his footsteps in dental and orthodontic training. That same sense of legacy shows up in his precise, detail-driven approach to every finished smile.
Outside the office, Dr. Rob can be found running, traveling, or spending time with family and friends. He and his team look forward to welcoming you to their Charlotte and Huntersville locations.
Mallary Forrest, DDS, MSc
ORTHODONTIST
Dr. Mallary Forrest joins Dr. Selden and the Selden Orthodontics team with over a decade of dental experience and a genuine passion for helping patients achieve smiles they're proud of. She earned her Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Florida before completing her dental degree at the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2011, graduating in the top tier of her class and earning induction into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.
After practicing as a general dentist in the Charlotte area for more than six years, Dr. Forrest pursued her passion for orthodontics, earning her orthodontic certificate and Master of Science in oral biology from UNLV, where she also conducted research in oral cancer. That combination of general dentistry experience and specialized orthodontic training gives her a well-rounded, thoughtful approach to every treatment plan, from traditional braces to Invisalign.
Dr. Forrest takes the time to determine the best treatment approach for each patient, helping them achieve not just a beautiful smile, but a lifetime of oral health and confidence. Outside the practice, she is a devoted wife to her high school sweetheart, Matt, and a busy mom to three children, Macy, Mia, and Matthew. When she's not at the office, you'll find her cooking for her family or cheering on her husband's high school basketball team from the stands.
Working alongside Dr. Selden, Dr. Forrest looks forward to helping patients in Charlotte, Huntersville, and the surrounding communities feel confident in their smiles.
