About Invisalign Treatment
Consider Invisalign® with Selden Orthodontics to give you the amazing straight teeth you’ve always wanted—without braces.
The Invisalign Process in Huntersville & Charlotte
The Invisalign system is made of clear acrylic aligners that fit over your teeth and are designed to straighten your smile. They’re removable, making it easier to eat, drink, brush and floss.
At your first free consultation, Dr. Selden will sit down with you and assess the current state of your teeth and listen to the results you want. We’ll also discuss your financial needs to make sure your treatment fits your budget.
If Dr. Selden determines that your best treatment option includes the clear, removable aligners from Invisalign, we’ll sit down with you to talk through your financial plans and treatment options that work best for you and your lifestyle.
Selden Orthodontics will take some painless digital images and X-rays of your teeth so Dr. Selden can use these to create your treatment plan.
Using a digital program, Dr. Selden design a personalized series of clear, comfortable removable aligners that will shift your teeth in stages towards a beautifully straight smile.
At our offices in Huntersville and Charlotte, Dr. Selden will create precise sets of clear aligner trays to adjust your teeth to a predetermined location. We can even show you a digital projection of your final results before you start treatment.
A Modern Approach
Invisalign takes a modern approach to straightening teeth. It uses a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth.
Wearing the aligners will gently move your teeth into place little by little, based on the exact movements your orthodontist plans for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. You just pop in a new set of aligners about every two weeks, until your treatment is complete.
You’ll get a great smile without a treatment that gets in the way of your daily life. The best part about the whole process is that most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth.
This nearly-invisible option to straighten your teeth is truly changing the way people see orthodontic treatment. Dr. Selden has a lot of experience treating patients with Invisalign, and we’re excited to offer this technology to our Charlotte and Huntersville braces patients.
Differences Between Invisalign & Braces
Unlike traditional braces, smooth plastic Invisalign aligners don't have metal components that can irritate your mouth. And, because you'll take out your trays before you eat, you won't have to watch what you eat like you would when wearing braces—bring on the popcorn and peanuts.
In fact, you must remove your aligners for eating and for drinking anything other than water. You need to ensure you’re willing to do that before deciding on Invisalign clear braces at Selden Orthodontics.
When it comes to Invisalign treatment, there’s a lot to consider. Most of Dr. Selden’s Invisalign patients enjoy shorter check-ups, fewer appointments, simpler oral hygiene, and fewer emergency visits.
However, the system's biggest pro can also be a con—the fact that the aligners are removable. We need your cooperation, whether you have traditional braces or Invisalign.
Since we attach braces to your teeth, they do the heavy lifting to keep your treatment progressing. With Invisalign, you need to do a little extra work so your trays can complete your treatment at Selden Orthodontics.
You’ll need to manage your wear time, keep your aligners clean, and swap them out for the next aligner in the series. You need to be sure that you can do this before committing to Invisalign treatment at our office in Huntersville or Charlotte.
Like traditional metal braces, Dr. Selden recommends wearing a retainer after your Invisalign treatment to maintain your new alignment and confident new smile.
